How to plan a personalised around the world trip in 4 steps.

Step 1 – Where to start my around the world trip?

Most people itch to get as far away from home as soonpossible, but the best adventures start by exploring your roots. We suggest you travel your home continent first, then work your way around the world from there.

Start by searching, ‘Top countries to visit in continent X’, then do the same for the next continent on the following page. Write down all the results you get and take your time. You need the data for the next step. Note down everywhere you want to visit, you can cut it down later if you want to.

Step 2 – How to choose where to travel on my around the world trip?

Look at your notepad of ‘Top countries to visit in continent X’ and go to a search engine and type ‘Top places in country X’ . Making a list on your notepad next to the country those locations are in. Then search and do it again for ‘Top off the beaten path places in country X’, (Sounds lame but the travel community love this word for some absolute gems). You guessed it right, you’re going to do it one more time, but this time searching for experiences not locations, search ‘Top things to do in country X’.

Now you should have the continent at the top of the page, the countries under that, followed by top ‘places’, top ‘off the beaten path’ places and top 'things to do’ next to each country.

Tip: How many to choose? (If you want to do a 3-month trip, choose the 6 places in total for each country and 2 for each category. If a 6-month trip, then choose the 12 places in total. For example, if 6 months, you should have 4 from from ‘Top places in country X’ and 4 from ‘Top off the beaten path places in country X’ and 4 from ‘Top experiences in country X’).

Step 3 – How long should I travel for?

Normally these trips can be done in as fast as 3 months. Most travelers say the perfect time is 6 months for these around the world trips.

Simply put, for every location you wrote, give yourself 1-2 days for a 3-month trip or 3-4 days for a 6-month trip. For every 3 destinations you want to visit expect 1 day to be lost in travel on average. At the end of this process. You should have a list of locations in different countries, followed by a rolling number which increases per destination, adding up to the final number of estimated days you’ll be away.

Step 4 – How to visualize my around the world trip plan?

Adjust the dates properly, with destination 1 being your home and departure date, then destination 2 set your arrival and departure date and so on.
